FOR VOCATIONALLY QUALIFIED INDIVIDUAL INSTALLERS
COFNII Approved Installer
Approved Installer membership recognises an individual’s verified vocational competence, professional conduct and commitment to maintaining current industry knowledge.

ANNUAL FEE
£179
This is an individual professional membership. Approval remains subject to verified vocational evidence and cannot be purchased through payment alone.
A defined route for the right applicant.
—— WHO IT IS FOR
✓ Employed, self-employed and labour-only installers working in fibre optics or network infrastructure.
✓ Installers who hold vocational qualifications and want those achievements independently checked.
✓ Technicians who want a professional identity based on evidence rather than an unsupported CV or short attendance course.
✓ People maintaining CPD across installation, testing, fault-finding, safety and standards.
—— ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Requirements before an application can succeed.
COFNII applies proportionate checks to the status claimed. Payment never overrides a missing requirement.
01
Relevant vocational achievement for each technical discipline claimed.
02
Current practical experience appropriate to the approval scope.
03
Identity verification and the right to work where required by the engager.
04
Appropriate safety awards or access accreditations where the discipline requires them.
05
Agreement to the Code of Conduct, CPD requirements and badge-usage conditions.
06
Willingness to complete a technical or practical assessment where documentary evidence is insufficient or requires validation.
Claims must be verifiable.
—— EVIDENCE REQUIRED
COFNII checks primary evidence and may contact the issuing or awarding organisation. A CV or attendance certificate is not accepted as vocational proof on its own.
01 Government-issued identity evidence submitted through the secure application process.
02 Awarding-body certificates with qualification title, level, units and achievement date.
03 Supporting evidence of current occupational practice, such as test records, job records, authenticated references or an employer competence matrix.
04 Relevant safety and access certificates with expiry dates.
05 CPD and standards-update records where available.
06 Permission for COFNII to verify qualifications with the awarding or training organisation.
—— PRICE AND ASSESSMENT
Fees are separated from approval decisions.
Where a fee is quoted, COFNII confirms the scope and price before evidence review or assessment begins.

DIRECTORY OR REGISTER
What can be published
Approved Installer is an individual status, not a corporate supplier listing. Individual labour-only members will not appear as companies in the end-client service directory. With consent, a current status may be verified or associated with an approved employer’s workforce evidence.
LOGO AND BADGE USE
What the mark means
The Approved Installer mark is personal to the named member and may be used on a CV, email signature, professional profile and personal workwear in accordance with the badge rules. It must not be transferred to an employer or used to imply that a business is a COFNII Approved Installer.
—— MEMBER BENEFITS —
What you receive for your money and commitment.
01
Independent verification of relevant vocational qualifications and approved technical scope.
02
Use of the Approved Installer mark while approval and membership remain current.
03
A member verification number and status that can support employer and contractor checks.
04
Member-only standards updates, technical briefings, templates and CPD resources.
05
Invitations to networking events, consultations and installer working groups.
06
A clearer route to recognition within an employer’s approved Corporate Member profile.
Recognition must remain current.
—— RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS
01 Pay the annual membership fee and confirm contact and employment details.
02 Maintain relevant vocational, safety and access credentials.
03 Record suitable CPD and standards-update activity.
04 Notify COFNII of competence concerns, sanctions, material complaints or a change of technical scope.
05 Complete reassessment where evidence has expired, approval has lapsed or technology and standards have materially changed.
Renewal protects the value of every COFNII mark by checking that the evidence and conduct behind it have not expired.
Can I become approved after a one-day manufacturer course?
A short manufacturer course may support product knowledge, but it does not normally replace a relevant vocational qualification and assessed occupational competence.
Can my employer use my personal badge?
No. The badge belongs to the approved individual. An organisation must hold its own membership and pass the relevant approval process before using an organisational mark.
Can experience replace qualifications?
Experience is valuable but a CV alone is not enough. COFNII may consider recognised experienced-worker or assessment routes, but approval requires verifiable evidence rather than an unsupported claim.
Will my name appear in the corporate installer directory?
No. The end-client directory lists approved organisations, not labour-only individuals. Your verified status may support an approved employer’s workforce evidence and be checked through an appropriate verification route.
—— CLEAR ANSWERS
Membership FAQ
What happens if my safety accreditation expires?
Any approval scope that depends on that accreditation may be restricted or suspended until current evidence is provided.
