This document forms part of the approved COFNII governance framework.
1. What this policy covers
Cookies and similar technologies store or access information on a device. This includes browser cookies, local storage, pixels, tags and comparable tools used by the website, embedded services or approved providers.
This policy is intended to meet the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), UK data-protection law and amendments brought into force under the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
2. Cookie categories
Strictly necessary: security, network delivery, authentication, member sessions, consent records and functions requested by the user. These do not require consent where the legal exemption applies.
Preferences: optional settings such as display or language choices that are not strictly necessary.
Analytics: optional measurement of website use, performance and content effectiveness.
Marketing and embedded media: optional advertising, social-media, video or cross-site tracking technologies.
3. Consent choices
Non-essential technologies will not be activated before valid consent. Consent must be freely given, specific, informed and expressed by a clear positive action; continuing to browse is not consent.
The cookie control must make accepting and rejecting optional categories genuinely available and allow preferences to be changed or withdrawn as easily as they were given. Withdrawal does not affect use that was lawful before withdrawal.
4. Current cookie table
Before the Wix site launches publicly, COFNII will run a cookie scan and publish a current table showing each cookie or similar technology, provider, purpose, category, duration and whether information is transferred outside the UK. The table must be refreshed when apps, analytics, payments, video, chat or marketing integrations change.
5. Browser controls and contact
Browser settings may block or remove cookies, but blocking strictly necessary technologies can prevent sign-in or another requested function. Use the website’s cookie settings for category-level control and contact info@cofnii.org with a question.
