1. Commitment

COFNII wants its website, membership services, events and information to be usable by as many people as reasonably possible. COFNII will consider and make reasonable adjustments in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

As a design and quality target, the website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA where reasonably practicable. This is a stated target, not a claim that every page has already been independently certified.

2. What users should be able to do

  • Navigate core content using a keyboard without a mouse.

  • Use clear headings, labels, link text and focus indicators.

  • Zoom text and reflow content without losing essential information.

  • Use screen-reader and speech-recognition technology with meaningful structure and alternative text.

  • Understand colour-coded information without relying on colour alone.

  • Request important information in a reasonable alternative format.

3. Known and potential limitations

The replacement website remains under development and has not yet completed its final independent accessibility audit. Uploaded legacy documents, third-party booking or payment interfaces, standards supplied by other publishers and older media may not meet the same standard.

COFNII will prioritise issues that block membership, complaints, verification, payments or access to essential information and will work with third-party providers where the limitation is outside COFNII’s direct control.

Section 3

4. Feedback and reasonable adjustments

Email info@cofnii.org with the page or service affected, the difficulty encountered, the assistive technology used if relevant, and the format or adjustment requested. COFNII will acknowledge the request and respond within a reasonable period, taking account of urgency and complexity.

No person will be charged merely for a reasonable adjustment required by law.

Section 4

5. Review

This statement will be reviewed after the pre-launch accessibility audit, following material platform changes, and at least annually. Testing should include automated checks, keyboard review and representative assistive-technology testing rather than relying on a single automated score.

Section 5

UK legal and guidance references

External sources are provided for transparency. The legislation and official guidance in force at the relevant time should always be checked.
